Inside the Frederick estate's saltwater pool room
A look at the heated indoor saltwater pool at our Frederick property, and why it works in every season.

The pool at our Frederick property sits in its own room on the lower level of the house. A wood-plank ceiling with skylights runs overhead, and one full wall is sliding glass doors that open onto the rear deck and the woods beyond.
The pool is 6'6" deep and runs on a saltwater system, which keeps upkeep low. It is heated with propane, so it stays usable through a Maryland winter. In summer the glass doors slide open and the room becomes part of the yard.
The large recreation room next door opens straight into the pool area, which makes the space easy to use for a group: one room for sitting and talking, the next for swimming. Lounge chairs line the deck around the water.
Outside, the house has more than 4,000 square feet of decks, patios, and covered porches, all on 2.6 wooded acres about 1.5 miles outside Frederick city limits.
